Elder Perry, Dance Party, and Family Pictures!

Hey!

This week we had the privilege of hearing from Elder L. Tom Perry of the Quorum of the 12 apostles! He came and spoke at devotional on Sunday in the BYUI Center. His talk was fantastic! He talked about how the church is the scaffolding around the building of family not the other way around, preparing the way for the second coming, and being strong in hard times. He seemed to emphasize being bold in our proclamation of the gospel and telling people why we do the things that we do.

My favorite story that he told was about when he would go to business meetings that had a cocktail hour. He knew he couldn't drink so he would get sprite instead. He then realized that the sprite was the same bubbly consistency as some of the other drinks in the room and didn't want others to think that he was drinking so he started to order milk instead. The first time he asked the bar tender for a glass of milk he had to ask three times before the bar tender realized that he really WAS asking for milk and then scrambled to find a gallon of milk to serve. He said that him drinking milk always seemed to be a topic of discussion and conversation starter. as he went to more and more meetings he started to realize that more and more men began to order milk during cocktail hour with various reasons such as they were # months clean, or their wives didn't like them drinking. What  a neat story!

On Friday Brett's little sister Heather came into town! She came and stayed with us Friday night and then headed back the next afternoon. Not a very long trip- but lots of fun! We loved having her here! It was a nice break from school and work. She is the reason the blog title says dance party because she introduced us to some new music and brought Just Dance 3 with her. I feel like about 3/4 of the time she was here we were dancing!

Today I made an embarrassing cooking mistake. For the record: Putting 3 baked potatoes and four frozen slices of ham in the slow cooker on high for three hours is NOT a good idea! I came home from church and the apartment smelled terrible! I went and lifted the lid of the slow cooker and a huge puff of smoke came out, I quickly slammed the lid back down and opened the door so the alarms wouldn't go off! Needless to say we did not have ham for dinner. Brett is still laughing about it. Oh Boy!

Heather also did the favor of bringing us the family pictures that were taken in December! I think they turned out pretty well!

Thanks for reading!

3 Down, 10 To Go

Hey everyone!

We have completed our first three weeks of classes and have 10 left. But who's counting!!? This has been the semester of random facts for us because in the short times during the day that I see Brett I am constantly saying, "Guess what I learned today! [insert random fact here]" It's a lot of fun.

There were no classes on Monday because of the holiday. Any thoughts of doing something fun were quickly pushed aside when we looked at the load of homework we received and Brett worked. It was still nice to at least have that day to be in the apartment together.

We used a gift card that we got for Christmas on Friday and ate at gator jacks and then we went and saw the chipmunks chipwrecked movie. I thought it was cute and I loved the music, Brett on the other hand... well, lets just say his taste in music isn't quite as varied as mine :)

Brett just claimed that our couch was probably built during World War 2. Hahaha!

Well, that's a quick update from the Binghams! We are looking forward to dinner with friends tonight!

Have a great week!

Brett's Birthday Weekend!

Hello Everyone!

Every time we feel like we are settling into our school/work schedules something comes along to disrupt the peace again, but that's OK! We are taking it as it comes!

As most of you know Friday was Brett's 24th Birthday! I am sad to admit that his birthday was not the funnest day of his life. He had classes from 7 in the morning to 11:30 and then work from 1 to 9, but I did get to make him a nice breakfast, lunch, and dinner! he also opened some cards from parents and in laws as well as his present from me. I got him Inheritance- the last book int he Eragon series.

We celebrated more on Saturday. We did homework for most the day, but enjoyed the evening. He spent some of his birthday money getting the movie Thor and watched that while drinking some orange julius and eating popcorn. To just stay at home and cuddle on the couch made for a very nice evening.

Today our church time switched to 9-12, which we both are glad for, however it does mean 7 o'clock meetings for Brett. (We can substitute the lack of sleep with an afternoon nap.) After church we had a taco social that was a lot of fun. We are getting to know our new neighbors!

Tonight we are doing a game night with Brent and Brandi. They live just a couple buildings away from us in the same apartment complex. Should be a fun night!

Enjoy your week!

First Week of School

Hello All!

I think that me and Brett are both wondering what we have gotten ourselves into this semester. We have a lot of work to do!

This Semester Brett is taking:

Managerial Accounting
Intermediate Accounting Pt 2
Foundations English
Race and Ethnic Relations

3 of the 4 are killer classes and the other is English which is Brett's least favorite topic.

This semester I am taking:

Introduction to Business Management
Human Resource Management
Infants and Toddlers
Ethics and Legal Issues
Persuasion
University Comunications Practicum
Senior Project

Enough said there!

Brett is still working in the bakery at Broulims and I am working as a TA in the communications department again this semester.

Me and Brett did take some time to enjoy this weekend and went and saw Sherlock Holmes 2. Brett really liked it! I'm sure that one will end up on our DVD shelf someday!

This week I was introduced to Pinterest, which is a great way of sharing and compiling craft and recipe ideas. I am still figuring it out, but if you are on there feel free to follow!

Where did Christmas Break go?

Helllo,

Well Christmas Break has come and gone and we collected some great memories along the way- isn't that what it is all about?!

We just got back from a trip to Honeyville, it was great seeing everyone there! Summary: We all got the chance to go bowling with the family and eat at El Sol, Dalan and Timari's dog had a puppy (just one as far as we know), we did family pictures, lots of visiting, Just Dance 3, opened Christmas presents, and a few of us even stayed up to celebrate the new year!

Brett's older brother Ryan flew in from Ohio with his family and I got to get to know them better. It is really fun to watch all the neices and nephews play together!

We also got to meet our newest niece Ella, Laura and Steve's new baby girl, such a tiny little thing! Very cute!

Last night me and Brett stayed at Destinations Inn again, by a certain chain of events we got another free night stay from that advertising campaign that my team won a couple semesters ago. We stayed in this room:

Congo
It was a lot of fun and really nice to have one final time to relax before classes start!

Best of Luck to all of those that are starting classes soon and I hope everyone has a great week!
